THREADS OF OUR ANCESTORS
Long ago and far away we
had wars to protect our valiant land
Then came the attacks of
9-11 and we found them here at hand
These were people that
lived in hatred of us in the provident West
Taught in madrasas from
whence they came to experience the test
The murder of our children and those of us in travel, home
and work
With weapons found within
our midst, flying missiles as they lurk
In the cells of extremist
protected by a constitutional form of life
That brings to us a change
in the ways that we fight this awful strife
We shall prevail as in
the past to drive the enemy to the ground
And pound them into the
dust and dirt from whence they're found
Those of our enemies
anywhere that come to our homeland to kill
Will find that the threads
of our ancestors left the strength and will
To find them and destroy
the beliefs founded in their books of grief
Then can we stay here and
rest in the land of peace and our relief
